It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

It is no secret that I am a HUGE Christmas person! So as soon the 1st of December rolled around, I was decorating like mad. Equipped with my three big boxes of decorations and Michael Buble's Christmas album playing in the background I Christmasafied every inch of the house. Candles, candycanes, nativity scenes... you name it, I've got it!

The piste de resistance is of course the tree. I prefer the real thing over the fake ones. Going to the Christmas Tree farm and picking out a perfect tree has become somewhat of a tradition. Plus, nothing gets me into the christmas spirit more than the amazing smell of pine!

I wanted to decorate the tree in mainly whites and reds. I actually got a bit crafty and made a few decorations (I plan on doing a DIY blogpost for these so stay tuned). I have to say, this is my best tree yet!

I shot a little instagram video of the final touches being put onto the tree. Just for the record, that is not my voice you can hear, it's my flatmate!

Do you guys have any interesting Christmas decorating ideas or tips? Let me know in the comments!

December Desktop Calendar

Christmas is almost here and 2013 is coming to a close. I've said it before and I'll say it again; time flies by so fast! Seriously! I swear the year just started!

Anyway, you may or may not be aware that Christmas is my favorite time of year. I'm not ashamed to say that I have been listening to Christmas tunes since mid-October, but now that it's December I am stepping it up a notch or two. I am in full decorating mode. Candy canes and fairy lights are slowly but surely taking over the house. I will be sure to blog my progress for you all to see!

This month's desktop calendar picture was taken at the Covent Garden Christmas Food Market in London. It looks so festive! Definitely my cup of tea.

The End of a Chapter

Source: Pinterest

I'm done! I have reached the light at the end of that long tunnel. Yes, after three and half years of blood, sweat and (a lot of) tears I have finished my degree. You are now reading the work of a communications graduate– no excuses for spelling mistakes anymore! :/

I'm unemployed for now (but not for long hopefully). I'm going to blog a lot more with all my spare time (in between job applications and interviews of course). I've missed writing for myself and instead of my tutors!

Talk soon, I'm sure,
Rachel

A new month, a new desktop calendar!

This month I was in a French kind of mood. This picture was taken on the streets of Lille in Northern France.

Oh, My Life!

(source: Pinterest)

This quote pretty much sums up my life at the moment. In five weeks I'll be all finished with my degree and I have no idea what's going to happen after that! There is only one thing I am sure of– I'm going to explore every inch of everywhere I've ever dreamed of going!

Melbourne Snapshots

A few month's ago I went to Melbourne for an internship at World Vision's Australian headquarters. Although most of my time was spent behind a desk, I did get the chance to see a bit of city too. I'm not very good with pictures– I never remember to take them– but I did manage to get a few snaps here and there to share with you all! Enjoy!

Topshop was #1 on my go to list in Melbourne.

Recognise these outfits? I went to the Hollywood Costume Exhibition at the
Australian Centre for Moving Arts and was able to come face to face with the
ACTUAL costumes from The Great Gatsby! AH-MAZING!

Melbourne seems to share my affection for a good cuppa. There are so many
tea stores! This one in Warburton was one of my favorites.

So many tea options!

Warburton is a quaint little town on the outskirts of Melbourne. Seriously
beautiful place!

One of my favorite buys from Warburton. She ('Dolly') now takes pride of
on my bed.

These are just a few of the MANY teapots that adorned this tea store in
Sassafras.

Melbourne Central Mall was built around this old shot tower. It's so
weird seeing a building within another building.

Karl and Susan's house from 'Neighbours'! Yes... I went there. (If you don't
know,  'Neighbours' is a classic Australian soap opera I used to be seriously
addicted to!).

I thought this was so funny. Who knew Peter Jackson was into fashion? ;)

I went to my first Aussie Rules game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. I was
so confused!

The most beautiful mall I've ever seen! The Block Arcade.

The Hopetoun tea room. I had cinnamon bread and it was good!

Best street name ever! Melbourne was actually founded by a man named
Batman. Seriously. Google it.

October Desktop Calendar

This is something that I started on my previous blog. If you're anything like me you will be perpetually unaware of the date. I find that having a calendar (and a pretty one at that!) right smack-bang on my desktop to be so handy!

This month's desktop calendar image is of London– one of my favorite cities in the world. Even though I've never been there, I feel like London and I are destined to meet. We suit each other to a tee... or should I say "tea"? ;)

One of my very good blogger friends, Emma (from emma- daydream believer), is moving there next year and I let her know every moment I can just how jealous I am! I've made her promise to find us a quaint little flat to live in when I move over there too!

A Fresh Start

My thoughts exactly :) (source: Pinterest)

In the spirit of Springtime, it's out with the old and in with the new. I'm starting again!

I need a clean slate. I started this blogging thing about a year and half ago because I wanted a space to share my travel aspirations with like-minded people. But somewhere along the way I decided to divert away from my original concept and in doing so I lost a ton of inspiration. What was once a passion project turned into a bit of a chore!

And so begins my new beginning! I'm going back to my blogging roots and refocusing on what really gets my creative writing juices flowing! Although you can expect to see the odd recipe, fashion and music posts you can rest assured that I will always come back to my favorite topic... travel!

So here we go again. I'm so excited start over!
